Tokyo Metropolitan University Scholarship for Privately Financed International Students(For undergraduate students)

Title Tokyo Metropolitan University Scholarship for Privately Financed International Students
Eligibility Academically outstanding privately financed international students that are regularly enrolled in an undergraduate course at Tokyo Metropolitan University
Scholarship Amount 100,000 JPY per month (for 12 months)
Applicant Requirements 〇The applicants must have or be currently applying for “student” as their status of residence.
〇The applicant must have an academic score of 4.0 or above out of 5.0 in the target grades, based on the calculation method defined by Tokyo Metropolitan University.
〇The applicant must be able to graduate within their term of study. (Excluding the case of delayed graduation due to study abroad)
〇The applicant must not apply for a scholarship from another organization at the time of application (excluding a scholarship that may be withdrawn from, a scholarship with a scheduled payment period non-overlapping with this scholarship, or Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship).
〇No concurrent receipt with a scholarship from another organization is permitted.(excluding Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship)

※International students financed by the Japanese government, MEXT are not eligible.
※International students that have enrolled by the Special Selection (Entrance Examination for Fall Semester Entrance) are not eligible.
※International students planning to study abroad should consult the International Affairs Office.

B4 Around September in the previous academic year (B3)
B3 Around September in the previous academic year (B2)
B2 Around March in the previous academic year
(B1, Right before moving to B2)
B1 Around September in the entrance year(B1)

Eligibility ・Second or third-year undergraduate students at the time of application, excluding third-year undergraduate transfer students who enrolled in April 2026
・Students in or above the second undergraduate year, including fourth-year students, who have repeated a year or may repeat a year due to mid- to long-term study abroad
Number of Recipients A limited number of students from each undergraduate year
Scholarship Amount 100,000 JPY per month
※From April 2027 to March 2028 (12 months)
※Those with particularly outstanding academic performance will receive 120,000 yen per month.
Application Period From Monday, September 14th, 2026 to 5pm on Thursday, October 1st, 2026 [strict deadline]

※Scholarship recipients will be eligible for the Tuition Reduction Program for AY2027.
However, tuition reduction under this program may not be applied depending on the recipient’s enrollment status in AY2027.
