Past Program Highlights
'24 TMU Winter Program
In January 2024, 17 students from four countries and regions gathered to study Japanese culture and language under the theme “Japanese Foodways: Past, Present, Future.”
Field Studies
Hachioji City School Lunch Supply Center Moto-Hachioji: Students toured the kitchen, interacted with staff, and enjoyed a school lunch.
Nakazato Farm: Students experienced strawberry picking, learned about local agriculture, and discovered various strawberry varieties.
National Museum of Nature and Science & Food Sample Workshop: Students explored the “Special Exhibition: Japanese Food,” and participated in a food sample making workshop.

Through lectures, students gained insights into: Japanese food’s global influence, Poverty in modern Japan, Smart agriculture technology, Food culture of the Edo period
Final Presentation
On the last day of the program, students presented their findings on Japanese language and culture during their stay in Tokyo.
