Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship (University Recommendation) International research students (graduate school level)

Late Nov. – Mid-Dec.

Applications are accepted, through TMU academic staff, from overseas universities with which TMU has a partnership agreement or a prior history of exchange. The application period is between late November and mid-December before the year of enrollment. TMU screens the applications and recommends selected applicants to MEXT. MEXT screens the selected applicants, and announces the successful applicants between May and Jun. Note that we accept international research students only in October.

■ Required documents:

〇Completed application form

〇Field of study and research program plan

〇Graduation certificate or degree certificate of the last university attended (or an attested document certifying that the applicant will graduate from the school, where applicable)

〇Official transcript(s)

〇Evidence of academic ability certifying that the applicant was academically outstanding in the last university attended

〇Evidence of language proficiency (Ex. TOEFL, TOEIC, Japanese Language Proficiency Test.)

〇Letter of Recommendation addressed to President of Tokyo Metropolitan University from a dean or a superior in the last university attended
